Fan Niu Thatched Cottage

The "Fan Niu Thatched Cottage", which is also known as the Painting and Calligraphy Exhibition Hall of Tian Yuan, is located in Room A504 of Mochtar Riady Library. Mr. Tian Yuan donated paintings, calligraphy works and collections during the centenary celebration of Southeast University in 2002. The university specially built the Fan Niu Thatched Cottage to preserve these gifts.

Mr. Tian Yuan's real name is Pan Youwei, and his pen name is "Fan Niu". Fan Niu Thatched Cottage also originated from this. Tian Yuan is an artist who is good at a variety of art forms, integrating comics, traditional Chinese painting, calligraphy, seal cutting, printmaking, paper cuttings, arts and crafts, animation, comic books, illustrations and other skills. In 1998, Southeast University hired Mr. Tian Yuan as a part-time professor in the Department of Art and gave several academic presentations for the students of Southeast University. Mr. Tian Yuan's inspiring spirit of achieving success through painstaking study is a great motivation for the students of Southeast University. His works and collections are also treasures of our university.
